Guided by master writers as wide-ranging as Ursula K. Leguin, Sherman Alexie, ZZ Packer, Zadie Smith, Edward P. Jones, Kurt Vonnegut, Alice Walker, and Joyce Carol Oates, students at the SEED school of Washington, DC participated in an intensive short story writing workshop, working alongside 826DC writing mentors over the course of several months. The result are stories that span genres and leap imaginations, from speculative fiction to teen romance, domestic dramas to O. Henry-esque plot twists. Accompanied by original illustrations drawn by their classmates, students experienced the joys and challenges of writing and the wonders of establishing a unique world of their own creation.
